Hi guys. I just joined the site and this is my first post. I recently rewatched The 'Burbs for the first time in several years and fell in love with this wonderful movie all over again! I'm trying to locate a copy of the screenplay, and wonder if anyone out there has it? Preferably a scan in PDF format. I did run a search on this site and on Google but have found nothing so far. If anyone out there would be able to email me the script then please let me know. Many thanks!

It's funny you should ask. Back in April I found a rare copy of the original script and ordered it right away. It was in the USA (I'm in the UK), so the delivery estimate said up to a month. That's now long passed and it still hasn't turned up. I'm currently waiting to hear from the seller to see what's happened.

But hopefully at some point I will have a copy of the script!

Did you ended up getting it ? I've heard that the script has info about the guy who lives in the house between Walter and Rumsfield.

No, it never came. I waited 6 weeks for it to come. Then I had to get my credit card company to get my money back. It looks like the company that was selling it went out of business before I ordered it, so I have no idea why they still took the order.

I really wanted that screenplay too. Now I think I'll just buy the much cheaper version, which you can find in a few places. It's just a copy, not an original, but it will still be great to read it.

Sorry for you, and you waited for nothing.

That sucks! Let me know if/when you do get that cheaper copy though...I have so many questions about that script (Lit major/aspiring writer, what can I say?) and I would love to finally know the answers. :) I'd order it myself, but I'm a college student and, therefore, perpetually broke, so I must mooch this knowledge off of other people.

You're kind of like Art. With him it's food from Ray's fridge, with you it's information!

As soon as I get a copy I'll scan it in so I can read it on my computer and iPad, so I'll happily send it to you as a PDF.

Care to share some of those questions you have? I'd be interested to know what they are. I'm interested to see the original draft of the ending, because it sounds like it went through so many changes. I'd also like to see if the script mentions how much time/days pass during the whole film. I can never work out how many days are supposed to pass...

I'm okay with being an information mooch!

That would be soooo awesome!! I would really appreciate that.

I was going to ask about the ending, for sure, but I've always sort of been fascinated by the Klopeks (suprise, surprise, haha), and I feel like the descriptions of them/the interior of the house and the characters themselves could give a lot of insight to the characters themselves.
