Not sure if this has been discussed but here is the episode of Jeopardy they were watching:

http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=5250

The three questions you hear in the movie are:

Jeopardy! Round:

  Holidays & Observances - $200 - It's the next federal holiday after Washington's Birthday

How to... - $500 - Remain calm, float with arms stretched out at right angles to body, slowly roll to firmer ground

Double Jeopardy! Round:

Business and Industry - $200 - In the McDonald's corporate "think tank", executives float on this type of bed to brainstorm

Enjoy,
Julian

Thanks, Dr. Karswell and welcome aboard. Oh and by the way, I love your groundbreaking book "Theory and Practice of Demonology".

Interesting, the episode aired in November 1987. Since, according to the calendar hanging in Walter's house, it's most likely June when the movie takes place, Ray and Carol must be watching either a rerun or and old taped version.

Glad to be here. I didn't think there were so many other 'Burbs fans. For me, no week is complete without watching 'Burbs at least once and Goonies at least once. Oh, and I'm thrilled you loved my book. :)

It must be a rerun. If it were taped, Carol would have paused it when Ray went outside to talk to Art.

Also a warm welcome to our esteemed Doctor.

A fantastic bit of sleuthing there sir. I feel like we should have a wiki page to document all the little tidbits like this that mean nothing to the average human but all the world to us 'burbanites.

Thanks, Inferno. I've got a few other things I'm researching, but I'm not ready to report on then yet. Stay tuned. :)

Are you up at the lake house doing some research?
