Hmmm I guess I'm talking from what I read a few years ago now. Maybe even a decade ago. But since then the world, and especially China, has changed. China has grown in all ways (except humanely). First country to down a sattelite from Earth!

I've just read this someone posted on a forum:
"First we would NEVER initiate a military confrontation with China, and second, if we did we would have our asses handed to us, and I've spent time in the military and I know several people that were much higher ranks than me that also concur with that reasoning, just because we say we're #1 does not necessarily make it so, sorry the truth hurts"
In any cost-benefit analysis, Western intervention would be (to put it mildly) a bad idea.
A Russian General has today said Poland has made itself a nuclear target. The Kremlin has distanced itself from the comment but...we really shouldn't be too surprised
