The tire swing

Maybe he has a brother or a sister who have kids and they visit him sometimes.Maybe the house is a heritage.
 
Some photos come with the frame, some tires come with the house. I think Joe or someone put it in the shot to reinforce the timeless neighborhood ornament that is the tire swing. There was one in To Kill a Mockingbird and surely in leave it to beaver and other films and TV that reflected the typical neighborhoods of the mid century america.

I'm surprised we never got a shot of shoes hanging from telephone wires.
 
Maybe Suzette made him put up the tire. She did complain about the crows and the bird feeder, so maybe it's one of those "if we ever have kids they need a swing,art!" Kind of thing.
