In the audio commentary , Dana Olsen mentions a war movie ending,
wich he wrote up when the producers wanted a new ending ,Big was released
during the filming and Hanks popularity prevented that first ending to be
made.

Then there was an epilogue but it most likely wasn't written.

Uhm, okaaaaaaayyyy...I'm pretty glad they didn't use this ending. It sort of reminds me of some scenes from "Death Wish 3" where Bronson runs through the streets and shoots some thugs (the main thug being blown away with a rocket launcher which Bronson previously simply ordered in a catalogue) while the neighbours are cheering. By the way, "Death Wish 3" is highly recommended for guilty pleasure purposes :D

But this idea would have destroyed "The Burbs" as it seems way over the top. I can't imagine the Klopeks using a mortar in the street. Or Ray running around with a shotgun. Where's the tank coming from, was it parked in the garage ALL DAAAYYYYYY?

Yeah, I don't think Dana was totally serious when he wrote that up, but it's quite funny, like an alternate timeline. I wish I could read the whole 18 pages tho.
