Hi neighbors

I just wanted to make a thread about things I find difficult understanding. After watching this movie (a couple of hundred times) I still have some question marks?

I think it will be best if I ask my question, then someone could help me answer it and then ask their own ("difficult to understand") question.

I'll start.

Question 1:
Why does Ricky wake up that early to paint his house? Ray is up watching the dog poop and Rumsfield is an ex soldier (he is used to get up early) but Ricky?

In my world I see Ricky as a really laid back slacker, and I would imagine that he would try to paint the house like 1 hour before his parents get home. But still he's up in the crack of dawn panting his god*amn house?

How come?

Ricky pulled an all-nighter and celebrated all night long without even falling asleep. So after the party he decided to stay awake and finally start painting the house because it was a good chance to continue listening to his 80's rock music just the way he did the night before.

Plus, he knows that Mrs. Rumsfield will be there to do some gardening. So he has to get up early if he wants to check her tan lines.

Also, Mark Rumsfield might keep an eye on Ricky, maybe because Ricky's parents asked Mark to do so. So every day he asks him to "Paint his g*oddamn house" and finally Ricky does because he doesn't want to get in trouble with Rumsfield.

I guess this is a good theory, thanks Mr Peterson!

Question 2:
Uncle Ruben is an intense guy, almost on the verge of exploding. But when Rumsfield ask Hans "So it's only you and uncle living here?" you can tell that Uncle Ruben gets really soft spoken, it's almost like his out of character for a second or so, how come?

I think Ricky is up that early is because he likes checking out Bonnie for tan lines each day while she works on the zinnies. I mean come on...wouldn't you. ;)

To me it seems like a protective reaction. If I remember correctly Rumsfield is dangerously approaching Hans as he says those words and Reube interferes in that moment. To me it always seemed as if he was trying to protect Hans.

Another thing that just came to my mind: Were they really "just" 3 persons? Was there some kind of danger that naive Hans could have revealed the real number of Klopeks (or a collaborater) and Reube quickly interfered so that Hans could not tell the truth? Who is the 4th (wo-)man behind the Klopeks? One of Ricky's parents? Suzette? One of the Barkelow's?

No half c*cked theories here, I like them.

Isn't it obvious?? The hot sun later in the day makes the Klopek's back yard smell like Skip's home. I mean people have to put those pine scented air fresheners on their porches.

That's the only logical explanation I could come up with as well, they don't want Hans to tell the neighbors something that could give them away.

Question 3:
Klopek's yard? They been living there for a month but the backyard looks like no ones been doing any work with it for a couple of years?

Could it be that all the "burning" and digging could have something to do with it?
The tree in front of their house looks like it hasn't got any water the last 10 years or something:)

(And we know the ones before Klopek's took care of their lawn...)

Hm, they seem to be so busy with murdering people that taking care of their lawn simply isn't that important to them.

Yes of course but the question is how its possible to get such an awful lawn after only one month of not taking care of it?
