Things I need help understanding!?

Sometime these things happen right under your nose. It's the month of June (we discovered this in another thread) so it got hot that summer. It got real hot. It was sweltering.
That heat where your underwear sweats and it crawls up the...Anyway, it's hot, okay?

So with one month in complete heat...hm the lawn still wouldn't look like that.

So just for the timeline: The Knapps moved out (were killed) and always took care of their lawn. The Klopeks moved in directly afterwards? Or could there have been a little break in between. Let's say the Knapps were killed in February, the Klopeks moved in in May and the story takes place in June. Could this be possible?

It's certainly possible, but even if it's not, I wouldn't mind.

Hmm I'm not sure but I always felt like they murdered the Napps and took the house away from them at once.

What's the deal about Art talking to the real estate broad that sold them the house?

How does that work if the people (Napps) got murdered?

Maybe the Klopeks killed the Knapps (Napps). The murder was never solved. The estate was settled through probate and the estate then put the house on the market where the Klopeks could by it at a cheap price (since people had died in the house -yuck). that would explain the real estate broad. The only problem would be that the Klopeks had no guarantee that they would be the only offerors on the house (but they would not be bothered by the yuck factor). Probate would take a lot of time and allow the house and yard to go downhill, which would further help the Klopeks.

What do you think?

Hmm I'm not sure about that. I don't think that no one, other then the Klopeks, knew that the Knapps where dead?

They all thought they moved or something, so they couldn't sell the house with a "yuk-factor (someone had died)"...

That's a good point. No one from the neighbourhood knew that the Knapps were dead, they all believed they suddenly moved.

It does ... it would be fun to hear some other theory.

The best one this far has to be that the Klopeks murdered the Knapps, and took their house. Then Art tells about the real estate broad just to add to the excitement (when he talks to Ray).

Do we have any other theory out there?

I kinda figured they had probably poisoned their own yard/burning it or something, to get away the grass, as it could have been in the way for their digging. maybe poison to get the grass to wither, and then the tree died naturally aswell.

(it could have been one of the first things they did and it slowly died, so nobody would suspect anything)

how did you figure it was in June? I mean, I always thought it was in the middle of the summer, since it seems that way to me, who has winter with snow - but Ray says to Art that he had gotten some tools from Carol's dad, and the way he says it makes me believe it's only been a month, tops since he got it.. (i'd think he would have showed it to Art sooner?) - and he also says to Werner in the ambulance, that he "just" (as in recently) got some new tools. ?? anyway. Do you have a link to the discussion? :D

About the Knapps, could it be that they had killed the Knapps, as it seem like they had just left town suddenly, and then written a "goodbye" letter, a fake one, signed from the Knapps, that they were selling the house to the Klopeks etc etc, and the real estate "broad" was just there to make it "official?" or something?
