I agree. Very few Hollywood films these days have any heart and soul. Every year it seems that great films become rarer and rarer. But when a film is great I can enjoy it whatever it is, even if it's meant for kids. So I don't think it's just that we're all older now...

That's why you look at the independent releases. There is some great stuff out there, you just have to look for it.

Definitely. Most of the great fillms I've seen over the past rew years have been weird/unknown, and I could have easily missed them if someone hadn't recommended them. I'm sure we'll all learn about a few great unknown films through this forum too.

Absolutely. In VERY few cases even the big blockbuster Hollywood still manages to surprise me with good ideas. Inception for example was one of these examples.

I liked Inception too. I love pretty much everything Christopher Nolan makes. I can't wait for Interstellar!

Affirmative, the trailer looks promising. They had various directors in the planning for this movie (I think even Spielberg and Stephen Sommers were meant to direct) but I'm glad it finally became Nolan.

I had no idea that Spielberg nearly did it. The trailer doesn't make it feel like a Spielberg film. Then again, Christopher Nolan probably already made it feel like his own style.
