I got my son the Oculus Quest for Christmas. This is a Virtual Reality headset you can wear that is mostly for gaming.

One of the immersive things it can do is drop you into a movie theater to watch any movie available on your local network (DLNA). Of course the first movie I tested was The 'Burbs and this was a fantastic experience.

So this post contains nothing new other than: If you want to experience The 'Burbs as if you were in a large screen cinema, try Virtual Reality!

This sounds very interesting. I was checking out some Oculus Quest reviews and really think about buying one (or an electric garage door opener).

Since my computer is a little bit older, I think the Oculus Quest would be the right thing because it doesn't require a modern computer. And watching The Burbs inside this cinema would certainly be a great experience.

It's actually really cool and I find myself using the VR for mostly this. The headset does weigh on the face after some time, leaving visible lines after you take it off. But nonetheless, I find myself returning to the cinema app more than the games for the immersive feeling you get , like you are in a real theater or open space with a large screen. here's youtube link that does it no justice. I love how the theater will reflect the lighting from the movie. IE when the movie is on a bright seen the seats are lit up, when dark, much dimmer etc. The same goes for the spaceship and the moon settings.
