sooo, i've aaalways wondered what season/month they are in. I mean, it's obviously spring/summer. ... but the fact that Ray asks Art if he's seen the new tools Carol's dad had bought for him. Art seems like the kinda guy who spends a lot of time with his friends, especially Ray and the gang. If it's summer, it just sounds like they haven't seen each other in ages. Which made me think about so many (half-c0cked theories) . like, if this is the case...then maybe Art has been on vacation with his wife for like a loooong time. like, a couple of weeks trip or something. Then they came home, and Suzette is all "omg i need to visit my mom cause i miss her" or something, and he's home, with a a golf outfit he never got to use..'cept for in the movie, lmao.


but i dunno. lmao. xD
 
That's one theory,I never thought of before.

Anyway, we worked this out years back...the month....many factors/clues were taken into account...especially given the 'holiday traffic'...but I can't remember what we concluded...it was soooo long ago...
 
It could only be May or July, but I've always thought it was around Memorial Day in May. So much rain is a little more common in May, plus everyone seems to be just starting their outdoor projects. It gives everything the feel of being fresh and new. Independence day is already past mid-year and you kind of expect a lot of that stuff to be taken care of already, besides... where are the fireworks?

Heres a theory that hasent been ruled out yet.
Maybe the Burbs took place the week after Memorial day,making it the first week of June.Ray could have been refering to traffic coming home after the holiday...any thoughts?

Yep, that was (and is) my theory...
But since the actual holiday was never specifically mentioned it gives you room to imagine whatever day you prefer.
