Seems to me that kids these days can't make their own entertainment on the streets without it often becoming criminal. I know It's important to not lose sight of the fact that the overwhelming majority of kids are law abiding and decent (even if we don't much like them lol) but there is undoubtedly a huge element (especially here in Nottingham) that are an absolute nightmare.

We used to play games till after dark. But we never did anything nasty or criminal. Okay, we'd knock on doors and run off...but hey...it was exciting (like Mark and Art ringing the Klopek's doorbell). It was exciting to do at night, especially if you had the balls to also hide in their garden after you'd rung the doorbell.

What did you all do as kids?

We used to play private eyes. We were snooping around the neighbourhood, hiding in the bushes and behind the trees with our toy pistols. And we were really convinced that in that one house (the orange house) was living some kind of murderer. LOL, I'm convinced this fellow was just cleaning some dust or something like that but his shilouette behind the curtain while doing this looked as if he was beating someone else down. From that point on we kept an eye on him :)

Man, we did a lot of great stuff. One day we were building our own wrestling ring and wrestled (with entrance music, title belts and everything).

Hah, good old times...

I remember summer days we would build ramps and jump them on bikes and skateboards.

But when the nights drew in was best; in Autumn. We'd all gather and play various games. Time (racing around two lamp posts either end of the crescent), dobby, hide and seek, we'd tie black cotton to door knockers and hide, like, miles away and tug it. LOL in the dark you just let it go slack...couldn't see it. And if they did, you'd just drop the cotton and run and hide.

But ghost train was cool. You'd have to hide and jump out at people then join the ghost train (kinda like a conga dance). The main point was to frighten the sh*t out of the ghost train passengers.

And who can forget the snowball fights?
We would have time-outs to reload the snowballs.

I remember playing hide and seek and use the whole neigborhood. Also playing football "ok, from here to Billy Mitchells house is the feild and the shrubs are out of bounds". Ah the good old days. Now-a-days I spend my time snooping around the neigborhood with night vision scopes.

I would have to say my thing as a kid was sneeking into old houses and buildings. But I never did this to vandilize property.I just liked the thrill of going in an old place, especially if I thought it was haunted.See,I would have been like Ray and Art when they went into the Klopects.Except I would not have dug up the basement and I could have picked the lock,or found another way in.But I also liked doorbell diching, snowball fights, and football games in my best friend of 24 years back yard with her dod Freckles.See we would give Freckles the ball, then chase her to get the ball back.It was sooo much fun and freckles loved being off her chain playing.

NF "I would have to say my thing as a kid was sneeking into old houses and buildings. But I never did this to vandilize property.I just liked the thrill of going in an old place" you mean a dead guy's house?

Freckles is a cool name LOL!!!

"And who can forget the snowball fights?
We would have time-outs to reload the snowballs". Oh man yeah. One year my dad and my best friend and I built a massive igloo. That was awesome. We sure knew how to throw a snowball party.

And we played a lot of sports.

Endless sessions of badminton, table tennis. I'll never forget the night me and my cousin played table tennis until the night came. With floodlight and the full moon right above our heads.

FANTASTIC RAY! Those nights are burnt into memory forever.

I used to have a snooker table - outside - and we had kids from everywhere join in competitions - even if we didn't know them. Mom would buy us Coke and biscuits and we'd play ALL DAY. None stop. Until the sun went down.

I just don't think that sh*t happens now :( Kids in Notts are either burgling, robbing, taking drugs or inside alone playing playstations and X Box violent games. No social interaction...
