Your first time

My first time was in either April or May 2007...

I was staying at my sister's house this cold spring day when her fiancee thought it'd be a great idea to get some pizza and a couple movies. They came back with the pizza and two movies, Shrek and The 'Burbs.

Their baby was up and my sister decided for us that we'd watch Shrek first. So we did and during it both her and the baby fell asleep. To be honest I didn't really want to watch The 'Burbs, I thought it would be some cheesy 80's movie. But I watched it anyway and was pleasantly surprised...

I LOVED IT!!!!!!

And the rest is history...

I have no idea when I saw it first. My siblings watched it at my grandmother's house the night I was born though. hahahaha Which proves that I was "born" to see this movie. :) I remember seeing it when I was young. I didn't really care much about it then. When I was maybe 12, when I really started getting into it.

I saw the Burbs in @ the movie theater the year it was released (I was 20). From the opening scenes I knew I would love this movie for years to come. I had the vhs and damn near wore the thing out. Now I have a copy on DVD and I try to watch it (at a minimum) 1-2 times a month, although I've been watching much more these days. Spring is here and it's time to get out in that yard!

Ok, I'll jump in. I'll give you a little participation. I remember seeing the trailers for the movie on TV leading up to its release in the theater. I knew right then and there this was going to be the greatest movie ever. But for some reason when it came out I didn't go to the theater to see it. My brother and sister went to see it tho and once the VHS came out we rented it. We watched it late at night and laughed SO damn hard at every little thing we wound up waking up our mother and got chastised. Then she realized what we were laughing at and the next morning she watched it first thing and woke me up laughing through the whole thing. I later received the movie as a gift and it was the very first DVD I ever bought. In fact, the only reason at the time I purchased a $300 DVD player was to watch the alternate ending.

is it just me or does the movie make you feel fuzzy all over? ;)

The first time I ever saw this show...it was an early showing on one of the networks. I had heard that it was really funny but I didn't enjoy it that viewing. YEARS later....i saw it on HBO when i was like 17 one summer and fell in love. I taped it the next time it was on ...and really i watched it on a loop for that entire summer. Seriously, I was up on my roof with my beebee gun looking for things to shoot.

I was maybe around 10? My dad was watching it on WGN, said its a good movie so I watched it and fell in love!

My first time watching it was in the early 90s. I thought it was ok at the time and then quickly forgot about it until 2000. I was digging through a dresser with some VHS tapes in it, saw it and decided to watch it again. Then 2002 comes. I had recently started smoking weed and was looking for something to watch and again I found the burbs tape and decided to watch it. I dont know if it was the weed or that the movie just clicked with me all of the sudden but I was hooked. I would roll up a joint and watch it almost every night. Now 2020 is ending and I'm here typing this while I smoke a bowl topped with some hash and watching/listening to the burbs for the thousandth time.

A vhs from a rental store around 94, the movie was not released in cinemas here, and wasn't popular nor discussed, a few negative critics but I didn't follow their recommendations.I picked it because it was suburbs themed.I only knew Tom from Big, Corey from Gremlins and Carrie from SW.
It's a movie wich has a huge replay value and wich get better each time you watch it, so you can't stop.
