OK, the Maya calendar obviously ends on this date but in my opinion there's no connection to an end of the world.

The Maya calendar ends, but not because it stops forever. If I got it right it basically starts from the beginning again.

So I believe something WILL happen on that date. It's not the end of the world. But it's a change. A new age for mankind. It might even just happen on a spiritual base. Speculative.
