I can't believe a place like this exists. I was browsing the internet today and googled, "perfect suburbia". I stumbled upon a random fact that Desperate Housewives was recorded on the same set/street as The 'Burbs, my favorite movie of all time? I guess you learn something new every day :)

Anyways, I remember when I was 11 years old back in 1990. I had a friend over for a sleepover and my mom suggested we go to the videostore and rent a movie. (Teens won't know wtf I'm talking about). Anyways, we decided on The 'Burbs and what an impression it made on me. I soon after got it on VHS and watched it almost daily.
Fast forward a couple a years to 1995. My friend and I loved this movie, and when we got wind of that it would air on TV, we hyped the !@#$ out of it to everyone we knew. Maybe too much, as not many liked it. They said it was ok, but not as great as we depicted it to be.

To this day, at the age of 35, I still watch this movie a couple of times a year. I love EVERYTHING about it. So many memorable quotes and great acting. Back then, and still now, I was a huge fan of Rick Docummon and Corey Feldman and it gave the feeling that stuff like this could happen right under your nose.

"The movies? That's not real, that's the same as television. No, this is real, THIS is my neighbourhood"

Another neighbor?

You sound like you'll fit in perfectly here.

"we hyped the **** out of it to everyone we knew. Maybe too much, as not many liked it. They said it was ok, but not as great as we depicted it to be. "

I know what you mean! I've tried showing this movie to people and they just say 'it was okay'. Okay?!! NO! This is an amazing film.

Anyways, welcome to the neighborhood.

Welcome to our cozy neighbourhood, the place where Burbanites from all around the world come together, even 25 years after the original release of the movie.

Hope you like it here. With all the topics already discussed I'm sure you will be able to discover something new every day. Also looking forward to new contributions.

Welcome! I get a little bit excited every time I see another Burbs fan show up :) And I love what you wrote about how you discovered The Burbs, and how it stayed important to you over the years. It's the same for me, and no other film (no other ANYTHING, actually) gives me the same feeling as The Burbs.

It's my medicine for everything.

A real Burbs fan after my heart! :D

Welcome to our little street, it's certainly growing with our new neighbors.

PS: I moved from Denmark to perfect Suburbia in Sweden btw. and I selected my house/street pretty much influenced by the movie.

Nice! Im moving in with my girlfriend this august in a house we rented. I will make sure the moving Van is parked outside all day.

Will have to find the infrared scope and se what he neighbours are up to. And maybe find a radio that can reach the power company.
