HA HA, I was wondering if you would snap to that. I have to admit I work with mainly highly educated individuals - engineers, etc - and that skews the data for me. As far as neighbor reshaping goes, we had a similar situation in the US years back with blacks (bear with me here, this isn't going where you might think). A black family would move into a neighborhood and everyone would put their house up for sale, house prices would plummet, and more blacks would move in. Now, most people think, hmmm, let's go meet the new neighbors, people don't panic and everything pretty much stays the way it was. However, I understand your point.

"Another thing that gets people's backs up is things like not being able to fly the English flag "for fear of upsetting minorities" - and at Christmas, we can't have trees up in council buildings or charity shops, or send cards with Christian images on "for fear of upsetting minorities". It's disgraceful. The other year, a senior government minister sent out official government Christmas cards - not a single Christian or Christmas image to be seen. Oh sure there were images of Hindu, Muslim, etc... "

We have the same situation here. We are so afraid of offending someone that everything has to be vanilla. Man, if I were you, I would fly the Union Jack in front of my house every day and if someone didn't like it, they could eat.... dirt. The only reason those people can be in Britain is that at one time the Union Jack flew over their country. They should be grateful to be there. We have the same problem here with Hispanics. While most are decent folk who want to work, live normal lives and become part of this country, the vocal minority is trying to convert the US to Spanish. The undocumented workers drain our social networks, fill the emergency rooms and classrooms and everything has to be written in Spanish. The US is based on immigrants, except for the poor Indians, but they have always adopted American ways instead of trying to make the US a copy of where they just left.

We're destroying our very own way of life in pandering the way we do.

We actually have people in this country saying they won't be happy until an Islamic flag is flying over Downing Street (equiv White House).

Another example. I love Halloween. When I was a kid at school, Halloween was cool. Still is, we go trick or treating. Back in school, we drew pictures of witches and broomsticks etc...Ohh no...not now...no no no. It's not allowed in school.

I mean come on!

"I can see the news report now...they were a quiet family...moved to Iran..."

They went to Iran...they were offended by the Iranian flag...they demanded it be torn down...they also were given money by Iranian taxpayers...to settle in Tehran...to set up Christian churches...to preach hate to muslims on the streets of Tehran...and were provided benefits and free health care - and, when accused of terrorism, given free legal advice and protected by the Iranian Human Rights Act - I mean...can you even contemplate it for a second???

Am I missing something here? Do we need to wake up?

Here, read this, cut and pasted:

Iranian authorities lash man for having bible in car - report -
“A. Sh. admitted to being Christian, prompting the security agents to beat him up, the report said. He was arrested and taken to a holding cell in Detention Centre 102”

Iranian authorities in Tehran lashed a man on his back earlier this year for having a bible in his car, an Iranian Christian group said in a report on its website on Friday. "

I will say no more.

Sometimes their society reminds me of our deepest Middle Ages.

Nonetheless I saw a documentary once which portrayed the young and well-educated people of Teheran. They're ashamed of their president and of the backward society.

I believe they must feel like being trapped in a bubble.

That's one of the most upsetting things. You're right. The young don't want that psycho as a president speaking for them. And as we all know there's a war shaping up between the US and Iran, which is too frightening to even comprehend.

they always show stuff on tv from iraq (yeah i know you all discussed iran, im feeling like getting off topic for a moment), and it's always the same, like they're running around in their desert street, shouting and setting fire to stuff, and they are sooo angry all the friggin time.

why dont we just move them all out to Siberia or some other place really cold. I bet they'll cool of a lot - and they wont have time to bomb themselves cause they'll be too busy trying to collect firewood. HAH. sorry. :-s

i've always heard people say we should stop being paranoid over the us government. lol but.. but i like being paranoid. it's kinda like keeping all options open, ya know. so that we dont get surprised if something comes up, like oops, an alien or something. lawl.

oh and wtf it's not allowed to draw witches and stuff in school? LOL

*stops walking*

Oh...oh you think that's funny Hanne? Well yeah? well let me tell you what happened next. The State School Inspector shows up, the kids are just drawing hobgoblins, witches, that's okay right? Wrong... next minute there's smoke pouring out across house tops...you know what that smoke was Hanne? smoke from burning crosses on their front lawns....yeah...apparently the schools made one too many Hallowe'en pictures...El Snappo!
