Does someone know Herbert Grönemeyer?

My favorite song from him (he has many great ones) is "Was soll das?"

You will not find many german guys who don't know this song by heart.

I never heard this before, but I like it.

Glad to hear that you like Herbie as well.

Unfortunately after he lost his brother on November 3, 1998 and his wife on November 5, 1998 he took a break and since he came back he's only making sad and emotional songs.

Alright, now some recent footage:

Maybe Xavier Naidoo is known outside of Germany? He's one of the more recent artists I'd like to show you.

He starts singing in English and in the second half he continues in German.

One of the most pleasant voices of all the German artists.

Not my cup of tea but good voice. WE have lots of similar artists. We seem to be awash here.

Not your cup of tea, so back to the good old 80's. Next one is another 80's hymn, a classic from a band called "Münchner Freiheit". They recorded it together with the London Symphony Orchestra and it's an interesting combination of pop, classic and their nice vocal harmonies. It starts slow and becomes more and more powerful with more instruments being used. My favorite song from them.

Song starts at 0:57

OK obviously you liked Herbert Grönemeyer the most. Here's one of his love songs. Also very nice, I'm sure you will like it as well:

That song has a soothing melody. Nice, very nice.

Another 80's song from the German singer Herbert Grönemeyer. In this song he sings about...alcohol. It's his "ode to alcohol" if you want. This is NOT his music video by the way.

OK and I'm gonna revive this thread here as well. There are not so many German songs I like and most of them are from the 80's.

Here is another one:

Probably you guys can open a thread as well with your favorite songs which are sung in your language?
