Hanks like/dislike The Burbs?

Yeah, but I already see my pal's reactions if I don't do it:

"Chicken. Baaaaaaaaak Bak Bak Bak! You know you look like a chicken in front of your turtle and everything. Your turtle!" (I've got a 54 year old turtle here at the moment, the only "pet" I currently have).

And while I'm approaching the garbage can, they'll shout of the house: "Go for it Mr. Peterson! Yes! Haha! Whoooo!"

With the wind blowing into my face I will simply imagine the theme which is playing when Ray and Art are walking towards the Klopek's porch.
 
Don't forget to throw your gum on the floor....avoiding the turtle obviously....

I know this is a old thread. I hope p[people are still coming here and im not in a forgotten room.
Anyhow i really hope Tom Hanks hasent gone "snob". I dont know how he feels about this movie but he should be proud. Ok ..its not high brow or a 'important movie" But its movie with clever genius of acting and script writing that cant be duplicated. It makes people laugh and feel good. Not every move has to to be 'Gone with the wind" or " Citizen Kane". This movie is a all time fav of mine i rarely tire of . It s a work of genius and Tom should be proud of it. I bet this and the other comedy classics such as Splash" and "Money pit: will be remembered and watched 100 years from now. Will anyone really watch and r re watch the' important films' hes made we are suppose to like but who really truly does? Watching Forest Gump once was enough!
 
I agree. Tom can be proud of his 80's comedies, especially The Burbs. I occassionally wonder if he knows that there is a cult following. That there are Burbs Days being celebrated each year. And that there are people who have watched the movie hundres of times like us Burbanites do.
 
I saw Tom on TV the other night,. he still looks good. I hope he would still be grass roots enough o agree to make squeal. hes a great comedy actor. The best. I watched d him in Forest Gump and he was good but i dont think thats where his talents really are... I hope hes happy with the wonderful movie that has brought such joy..at least to me.
 
I saw an interview with Tom a few weeks ago on YouTube, and by pure coincidence he talked about The Burbs in it. The interviewer asked him about it and Tom seemed like he has fond memories of making it, and says that "There's some good stuff in there."

I saw Tom talk about The Burbs in another interview a long time ago. I'm not sure what it was. It might have been a show called "Scene By Scene" where an actor looks back over his entire career and talks about each film. It's a bit like "Inside The Actors Studio."

In the interview the guy asking the questions mentioned The Burbs in a very negative way, saying something about it being one of the few terrible movies Tom had made. Tom kept his cool because he's polite, but clearly it offended him and he defended The Burbs and said he liked it and so did a lot of people. Wish I could find that interview online!
 
Fantastic, thanks for the link. Yeah it indeed seems Tom is having some fond memories of the movie. Wish he would have talked a little longer about it.
