If you google it now you will find more and more news which all confirm his death so yes, it's sad but true. In wikipedia they state his day of death as June 17, 2015. I guess he must have struggled with some kind of disease. If we look at his twitter profile (https://twitter.com/rickducommun) you can see a tweet from April 17, 2013 which states: "Still alive motherf*****. Nice try death". On the imdb board some kind of disease has also been discussed long long time ago.

Reube comes up with a winning idea. Friday would be fine for me.
Another thing came to my mind: In addition to our Burbs Day (2nd saturday in July) why don't we just from now on also set each June 17 of a year as a date on which we try to watch The Burbs in memory of Rick? We could also add some little rules like "at least quoting Art Weingartner once" while watching etc.
