Rick Ducommun has passed away

It's been a crappy day for me before but this only makes it worse.

May he rest in peace and thank you so much for your great perfromance as Mr. Art Weingartner. No one else was ever able to deliver the role like you did.

I just checked his Facebook, and it seems the post was removed. I haven't heard anything about him passing away anywhere else. Perhaps it was a mistake?

No, I'm sorry to say it is not a mistake. Here is a post from Skull Skates, the skateboard company Rick co-founded with his brother. (You may remember Ricky Butler's friend Steve Kuntz wears a Skull Skates shirt in the film).

The cause of his death is unknown.

Thank you for all the laughs, Mr. Ducommun. Rest in peace.

I just saw Joe Dante's twitter posting. Such sad news. I think a viewing of The Burbs is in order, in honor of Rick Ducommun.

Maybe we should have a memorial day where we all watch The Burbs. Say Friday or something.

It's been awhile since I have posted here... but my brother told me the news this morning and it hurt.
One of the first things I thought about was this forum and it's community... so i rushed here to see if the news had broke...

:( Rick was an awesome Actor who I and many of us will never forget.. from Snik in Little monsters, to The 'Burbs, to Scary Movie and everything else he was in.. deffinatly will miss him..

 here's to you Mr. Weingartner!!

If you google it now you will find more and more news which all confirm his death so yes, it's sad but true. In wikipedia they state his day of death as June 17, 2015. I guess he must have struggled with some kind of disease. If we look at his twitter profile (https://twitter.com/rickducommun) you can see a tweet from April 17, 2013 which states: "Still alive motherf*****. Nice try death". On the imdb board some kind of disease has also been discussed long long time ago.

Reube comes up with a winning idea. Friday would be fine for me.

Another thing came to my mind: In addition to our Burbs Day (2nd saturday in July) why don't we just from now on also set each June 17 of a year as a date on which we try to watch The Burbs in memory of Rick? We could also add some little rules like "at least quoting Art Weingartner once" while watching etc.

What do you think?
