I'd rather chew broken glass lol Im glad to say i stole this line from this movie and still say it today.

There are many great lines to use in normal conversation. My favorite is to say, "That kid's a meatball."

P.S. I'm watching the 'Burbs right now.

Yup i'm watching it right now too part where Art says all i did was write i know what you've done thats it I didnt sign it or anything lol

The Burbs was on TV here in the UK a few days ago. I watched quite a bit of it but had to stop because they'd edited it so badly. I watched it later on DVD :)

So many of the best lines were ruined because they edited it for daytime TV.

When Rumsfield drops the brownies the line became "There go the brownies..."

When Ray tries to open the Klopek's back door with the credit card and it breaks, Art's line became "It was a store anyway." Anyone who hadn't seen the film before must have been really confused by that line. They just snip the bad word out and don't even replace it. Couldn't they have changed it to "It was a lousy store anyway"? or something similar?

Also cut was Rumsfield saying "God damn it" after standing in Queenie's dump, and Rumsfield saying he would staple Queenie's ass shut.

There were quite a few other cuts too. So annoying! People seeing it for the first time missed out on some of the best bits!

I remember seeing it on television when I was 14, ten years ago, and the things they did to it were terrible! It was on a 'family' channel too, so that was even worse.

That's why I'm glad I have the DVD. I can watch it any time I want in all of its unbridled glory.

It's horrible when they cut movies like this, especially when it concerns The Burbs. Why do they have to mutilate movies like that? Mutilations! Mutilations! The Incubus, the succubus...

Oh, and I just remembered, they also cut almost all of the dream sequence. I love the bit with Queenie with the little axe through her head, but that got cut too.

I recorded the whole film when it was on, so I might watch the rest of it over the next day or two just to see what else got cut.

Woah...you mean you don't OWN a copy of the BURBS? Sacrilege!
Pick one up on eBay, they're like a few dollars...costs literally nothing, or get the Blu-Ray edition.

No true Burbs fan could live without owning a copy! I've got 2 copies on VHS (I can't bring myself to throw them out - one of these tapes I've probably watched 300 times). Plus I have it on DVD! And I have both the steel book blu ray and the plastic case blu ray pre ordered for August!

(Oh, I also have a copy I downloaded online. I tried everywhere online I could think of, but there isn't a single place you can legally stream/download The Burbs, which is crazy. So I was forced to find it somewhere else...But now I can watch it on my iPad in bed :D).

I recorded it when it was on TV because I thought it would be greet to have it on my TV box, so that anytime I wanted to watch it I could just hit play. But that was before I realised how much of the film had been cut!
