Same here, and I'm really looking forward to that. It went from heatwave to fall in about 2 days.

And it's back. Yesterday we had a full blown sunny day, and 19-20c, today we're mostly cloudy but a very nice 20c nearly all day ...with the sun peaking in once in a while (enough to heat up my outdoor-indoor terrace/sort-of-greenhouse to heatwave levels).

Think I'm gonna grab a few hundred beers and dream of that barbecue...

Mr. Peterson here just got another week off and summer is about to return on wednesday. This means I will have a nap in my backyard lying in the sun. I will be lying there with my eyes closed, trying to find some g0ddamn sleep!

Excellent BluRay!

Maybe you could crush a few cans to make you feel better too?

Anyway, I'm heading for the basement (yeah, the basement!) to build myself an 80s Arcade Machine!

What what what what what? Building yourself an 80's arcade machine? I'm afraid this need a little further explanation! Speaking of 80's arcade machines, I've just recently seen "Wreck-It Ralph". Anyone knows this? I'll open a separate thread for this in the Cinema section.

Ok, I made a plan for it:

I've got the laminated pressed wood for it too now, so It's basically ready to be cut out according to the above plans.

Good luck with the build JoOngle. I myself is a huge arcade fan and have owned several cabinets in the past. Here's a few pics:

I just sold my Arcade cabinet when I moved. I refused to move that monster. It weighs close to 100kg and I was living in an appartment. Almost killed myself getting it up there.

I'm also working on building a setup in "my" room. It's pretty simple. Wallmounted LCD and a control panel sticking out underneath, kinda like those japanese lcd cabinets.

Here's a few pictures of builds I have done in the past
2010 - build a simple small cabinet with an xbox 360 fightstick

2013 - build a tabletop version from scratch

Now, until im done with the next project I have to settle for this iCade for my iPad that I modded to my liking :)

Anyway, it looks like it's getting hot today. Maybe not so hot that your underwear sweats and it crawls up the... anyway, not that hot. So I'm taking the family an hours drive north to the biggest amusement park in the country. I hope the crowds won't be that big. It's the last open weekend of the year, and summer vacation is over.

My kids sure are excited :D

Wow, this is completely awesome. Your kids are surely also having fun with these arcades. Which games are there? I recognize Metal Slug and Paperboy. Damn, I have absolutely no technical skills so I doubt I will ever be able to build something like this myself.

Can you get the ipad to play emulators, too? Or are you using the usual ios games?

Yea, my girls do enjoy playing the arcade games. Some favorites of theirs is Congo Bongo, Ms. Pac-Man and Puzzle Bobble. I sold most of my "real" arcade games, and only have Puzzle Bobble and Contra now.

I jail broke my iPad and installed an app called iMame4all. It plays most arcade games. I do have some ios stuff though. Atari Anthology and Midway Arcade. They have some good oldschool games.

The one I'm going to build will have all the games on a PC, so I will also have games like Fix it Felix Jr. and Robot Unicorn attack which I'm sure they will enjoy. It will have a trackball, so they can play angry birds and pinball controls for The Pinball Arcade.

JoOngle, thanks pal. I made a video that showcased some games.

Mwhahahaha... you sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger in that movie :D

But seriously, again - totally awesome. I did however notice that the speakers are notoriously small...you might want to improve the sound experience. Sound is half the game you know ;)
