I actually got to use "there go the god damn brownies" a couple of months ago when my wife burned a batch. She was pissed but immediately laughed when I pulled the quote out.

The Burbs is definitely a "comfort" movie. For me it reminds of the 80's a fun time for us who are pushing 40. It also is filmed in only a couple of locations (the cul de sac) giving the feel of shrunken setting, a kind of warm blanket feel.
Isn't it obvious?? The hot sun later in the day makes the Klopek's back yard smell like Skip's home. I mean people have to put those pine scented air fresheners on their porches.
