The Burbs Blu Rays and Extras

Hmm, I'll tell you all the new scenes I remember off the top of my head. I can get a better list later, but I'm not at home right now.

-There are added lines for Bonnie, the Garbage men, and many others throughout
-Barbeque scene
-Different scene when they break into Walter's house
-The scene where Art and Ray are digging is longer.
-There is a scene in the Klopek kitchen.
-There is a scene introducing Ricky's other friends.

That's all I remember off the top of my head. I'll make a better list later.

A scene in the Klopek kitchen, you say? Care to elaborate? :)

...This man said it's gruesome that someone so handsome should care.
It plays off of Art's line that they should start in the kitchen because they might have beer. Then Art looks into the fridge and doesn't find beer. And he says something like "they don't have beer" in a 'what kind of monsters are these people?' tone. It's humorous.

Ha! Cool.

Did they at least have some knackwurst?

Does anyone know if the documentary has been uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo or anything (for we unlucky ones who aren't Region B)?

Sadly no, I don't think so. Not yet at least. I'm not Region B either. I had to order a $120 multi region blu ray player just to watch it. I own a few other Region B discs, so it was worth it anyways.

Perhaps one day someone will post it.

I'm tempted to do the same...there are a few region 2/B DVDs and blu rays I've wanted in the past, so it would probably be worthwhile in the long run.

I found this nifty little site detailing the differences between the original and workprint versions of the film.

If you're like me and don't yet have the new Arrow blu-ray, but would like to satisfy a little curiosity until you do, then this should do the trick.

Thanks !
I worked around having to buy a region B player for now. I backed the Blu-ray up to my PC while removing the region encryption. Once there, I was able to isolate the playlist files associated with the movie and the extras and generate playable .m2ts files. I dumped them on to an external hard drive and plugged it into my PS3. Works great. The only drawback is, I could only choose one audio file so I went with the standard audio. I still have to generate the movie files a second time with the commentary track to get the commentary. I also can't view the menus...I'm not sure what all I'm missing there.

As it stands right now I have files for the movie with the standard audio converted to AC3, the documentary 'There Goes the Neighborhood', the workprint cut, and the split screen comparison 'A Tale of Two Burbs'.

I plan to re-run the software to get a version of the movie with Dana Olsen's commentary. I haven't bothered with the trailer or alternate ending.
Good job ! What's the size of the whole file ?
I think the movie files added up to about 25gb.
