The Burbs Blu Rays and Extras

From the forum posts, it doesn't seem like the AU version will have as much extra material if any at all.

It would be slightly annoying if it had one unique extra that was really tiny...Because I'd have to buy it! I might end up with about 40 copies of The Burbs at this rate!

I've never seen that.

It might even be Universal's strategy. Put one delicacy on every local Blu Ray so the true Burbanite will buy them all.

If they know about this forum that's EXACTLY what they would do. (If anyone from Universal is here reading this, I openly admit it: I will buy whatever Burbs DVDs you release, even if it's just the same disc in a slightly different cover.)

BUT, I would prefer it if you didn't do that Universal.

A person would think a US version would be imminent with all these releases.

A french bluray release of the Burbs was announced a few months ago but got cancelled ultimately, it was supposed to be released on the 11th of june 2014.There was also a new dvd.

Both formats got the title "collector edition" so who know what kind of extras were supposed to be in there? ...

Maybe they will release it later, but since the fanbase in France is extremely small , they didn't want to take any risk financially, i guess.

I'll keep you updated.

I also noticed when the French version got cancelled. It's a shame, because it had a really nice cover.

I've never seen that.
I would've bought it just for the new cover.

Affirmative for Mr. Peterson here as well.

Walter, I have your dog.
It's a great looking cover...

Which reminds me, we still haven't seen the final artwork for the new blu ray steel book. It's still missing Tom Hanks's name, and there's no hint of what the internal double artwork will be. I'm still hoping it's the 3 guys behind the trash cans :)

I've never seen that.
The French release was delayed, not cancelled.

It's important to keep in mind that these new Blu-rays are not getting released solely by Universal Studios Home Entertainment. But by boutique labels that specialize in classic and cult films.

Arrow in the UK
Carlotta in France
Umbrella in Australia

I am really hoping that Criterion gets the US release rights.
