Most dvds have the option for subtitles or dubbing, so people have a choice. If I was blind, for example, and didn't speak English, I would appreciate the dubbed German.
Hehe...
Yep, but did you know that the ENTIRE NATION OF GERMANY actually watches dubbed movies?
Yes it's true, Germans are dubbing everything, even porn. I don't know where exactly this is coming from but whenever I speak with people from countries which are using subtitles (e.g. Scandinavian countries) I notice that many of these people have great English skills which is also because of this subtitle - thing.
Dubbing doesn't make a movie better, it makes it worse. Many times I've watched a movie in the English original version as well as in the German version and by dubbing it you lose so much. Puns are not working anymore etc.
I think I have already mentioned it here, one example also concerns The Burbs. When Ray is asking Ricky "And green sky at night" Ricky replies "Neighbour take flight". In the German version Ray asks the same question and Ricky suddenly replies something like "gets the neighbour horny". WTF?

Someone on a forum today said they saw an ad in Empire Magazine that listed a commentary as one of the extras on the upcoming Burbs blu ray. I'm trying to find something official, but I really hope it's true!
Confirmed commentary track on the new blu rays coming in August!! Here's a scan from this month's Empire magazine with a full page ad for The Burbs blu rays:
I'm gonna try to get this edition of the magazine today or tomorrow to see if the ad says anything else about it. Plus I'll cut out the ad and keep it of course!
